Cartecay Translations is not a company; it's just me, James Walker, Russian-English freelance translator.

I have been working full-time at translation for 21 years and have gotten good at it. I like to know the people I work for, and this site is intended to be an opportunity for them and potential clients to get to know something about me.

"CARTECAY, Gilmer County. This was an old Indian settlement and is now a rural community about six miles southeast of Ellijay. The name is from a Cherokee Indian word meaning 'bread valley'" (Kenneth K. Krakow, Georgia Place-Names). This is where I have lived for the last 32 years.
